Lighten Up for Spring

The first day of Spring is just around the corner and it's time to bring a fresh look to your home.
The good news is you don't have to spend a lot of money to lighten things up.
Just shop your house, move things around, bring the outdoors in, and celebrate the new season.

I like to use lots of white with red accents for Spring.

Tucking a white matelasse coverlet over a brown sofa
shows the living room in a whole new light.

The guest room gets a fresh Spring look with cheery linens and piles of pillows.

In the sunroom, the farm table is all dressed up in red and white.

I love a splash of red and white in the Spring kitchen.

I keep the foyer simple with some straw accents and a basket of dried larkspur.

I don't usually photograph the bedroom but it does look cozy in the soft morning light.

I moved my enamel pitcher and bowl to the space just outside of the bathroom
for a fresh French Country touch.

So, what do you see in your decorating future for this Spring?

Wishing you a lovely Spring!

  1. What pretty pictures. That last one in the mirror is so artistic.
Honestly, all we do for spring is pull down the screens (they roll up like shades in winter). Then we go outside.
I have to say, I made white slipcovers for some dark green armchairs, and it totally changed the living room. But we keep them on all the time (I'd love to get the chairs reupholstered, but with white, slipcovers are much better because they're removable for washing).

    1. Oh thank you so much Catherine. What a beautiful thing to say. I wonder where you are if you're headed into cooler months. I have lots of bulbs poking up today so I hope we don't get any late spring snow. Hugs, Pat

  4. Lovely! Looks so fresh, and the red is certainly a French influence. I have a lot of yellow out now, daffodil inspired. Happy Spring!

    1. Thanks so much Shannon! I can't seem to get enough red; I even had dark red walls once but they've been painted over in a creamy khaki. Much better I think. Have a great week. Hugs, Pat

  7. There is something very "clean" looking about red and white. Very country with red/white checks ... one of my favorites. Happy Monday!

    1. Thank you Snap! I agree. Love red touches and checks too. I've been known to buy things simply because they're red, then have to figure out what to do with them. Ha! Hugs, Pat

    1. Thank you Vanessa! I think everyone is ready for spring, especially those in the northeast. It's beautiful here in Denver and I'm outside every minute, planning what to plant on my patio this year. Hugs, Pat

  11. What a lovely home you have created . . . I especially like the red and white in the kitchen and those rooster plates are perfection. I have been looking for something that I like with roosters, without any luck, but I'm a thrifter and they will show up one of these days. Something to look forward, too LOL.

    1. Thank you Connie, I really appreciate your kind words. I actually found those rooster plates (which I LOVE) at Goodwill. I hope you find some too. My fondness for chickens and roosters could get out of hand very easily. I'd love to find some concrete ones for the patio. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Pat

  12. It's all beautiful Pat. I always love a touch of red! I adore your unique S&P set. I have a lot of red sets, but have never seen one like that. I have a red and yellow theme in my kitchen right now, but will be making more spring changes when I get home. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  16. Your home is completely charming, Pat! I feel as if I could move right in and feel right at home! I love that it's a 'real' home and feels as if you love it and really live in it, rather than it being just a showroom!!
